The choreography competition all went very well. We had a great turn out and were particularly happy to see so many of our younger pupils and their families at the event. We enjoyed using a new and different venue at Brooklands Middle School.
We hope you all enjoyed it.
There were lots of great entries in both the ‘little ones’ improvisation sections-it really is adorable watching them dancing about on stage.
The choreography competition was divided into 3 sections which were adjudicated separately, solos age 12 and under, solos age 13 and over and finally a duets, trios, quartets section. The adjudicator was Miss Emma Leyshon LISTD RADdip. who trained at the Royal Academy of Dance and who taught for a while at Leanne Hughes Theatre School when it was first born! She was very impressed with the standard of dance and choreography in general and was particularly pleased to see some familiar faces amongst the dancers (although they had grown up quite a bit since she had last seen them!)
The choreography competition was followed by an interval with yummy cakes and refreshments and then a showcase. It was lovely to see lots of new dances in the showcase and even some new dancers such as little Elin Eichenberger dancing her new modern solo ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini’ for the first time.
The results of the competition were as follows:
